Societe Generale has launched 9 new ETCs on Borsa Italiana’s ETFPlus. The ETCs are all listed in euros and offer a mix of direct, leveraged and currency-hedged exposure to a range of commodities.
ETF provider VanEck Vectors has expanded its presence in Europe with the cross listing of four ETFs on the Borsa Italiana. Philipp Schlegel, international business development at VanEck, said: “Within recent years, Borsa Italiana has recorded a significant rise in average daily ETF trades on the Italian stock exchange. By listing our ETFs on Borsa Italiana, we are responding to investor demand for access to local trading.”
A new US-based ETF provider, GraniteShares, aims to disrupt the ETF industry by offering low-cost commodity ETFs with a smarter product structure. The firm officially launched with the listing of its first two ETFs on the New York Stock Exchange.
US white-label ETF provider Exchange Traded Concepts has announced that the REX Gold Hedged FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE Arca: GHE) is to close and liquidate. The fund, which was launched in collaboration with REX ETFs, was closed to orders for new creation units as of 18 May 2017, and the last day of trading of the fund’s shares on the NYSE Arca will be 1 June 2017.
ETF Securities has reported that their crude oil exchange-traded products saw their third consecutive week of inflows even as oil prices dropped 6.3%, according to the firm’s weekly flows analysis. Crude oil ETPs received $40 million in the week beginning 1 May to add to the $213m inflows seen so far in 2017.
Canada-based Horizons ETFs has introduced new indices for twelve of its commodity-tracking exchange-traded funds. Each fund will henceforth track an index designed and calculated by German index provider Solactive. The ETFs’ names, objectives and fee structures will remain unchanged.
Compass Financial Technologies has launched the Compass China Commodity Index (CCCI), the first index of its kind to track a basket of commodity futures, denominated in Chinese yuan, which are representative of commodity consumption in China. The index has been designed to underlie future investment products including ETFs.
Direxion has lifted the temporary suspension on creation units for the Daily Junior Gold Miners Index Bull 3X Shares ETF (NYSE: JNUG) that had been in place since 13 April.
The VanEck Vectors Junior Gold Miners ETF (NYSE: GDXJ) has become too big for its index, resulting in issuer VanEck and index provider MVIS Indices having to expand the coverage of the ETF’s underlying index to avoid breaching regulatory thresholds.
BNP Paribas has rolled out eight new exchange-traded commodities on Deutsche Börse’s Xetra and Frankfurt exchanges. The ETCs track indices from the Rogers International Commodity Enhanced Indices family, giving investors access to the performance of industrial and precious metals as well as to the energy sector.
