Hartford Funds has launched the firm’s fourth actively managed fixed income ETF, the Hartford Municipal Opportunities ETF (HMOP US), on NYSE Arca. Vernon Meyer, CIO of Hartford Funds, said, “Investors are very tax-aware and, as interest rates go up, advisors are seeking fixed income strategies with the potential for greater after-tax returns and income.”

IndexIQ, a New York Life Investments company, has launched the IQ Chaikin US Large Cap ETF (CLRG US) on the Nasdaq Exchange. “The addition of CLRG to our product suite provides investors and advisors with a powerful tool as they contemplate their domestic equity holdings,” said Salvatore Bruno, CIO of IndexIQ.

ETF providers are taking an increasingly active approach to stewardship of the companies they hold passive stakes in, according to new research from Morningstar. The report reveals that contrary to passive investing critics, the shift to index investing has not led to an abdication of shareholder oversight.

London-based ETF Securities has announced its range of precious metals ETFs saw starkly differing levels of investor demand during the week beginning 4 December, as gold ETFs saw the largest outflows of any segment covered by the firm’s products while silver ETFs recorded the largest inflows.

WisdomTree has launched three new Boost ETPs offering investors inverse exposure to UK Gilts, and triple inverse exposure to German Bunds and US Treasuries. Jose Poncela, head of ETNs at WisdomTree, Europe, said: “We’re excited to be launching three inverse fixed income ETPs at a time when such products are attracting the majority of flows year-to-date in the European short-and-leveraged market.”

The World Gold Council has reported that gold ETFs saw net inflows amounting to 9.1 tonnes of gold ($393 million) during November, bringing total holdings to 2,357t ($8.5 billion).

JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has launched the JPMorgan Managed Futures ETF (JPMF US) on the NYSE Arca. The fund follows an actively managed hedge fund strategy and provides exposure to carry and momentum factors across fixed income, currency, commodity and equity markets.
