Syndey-based ETF issuer BetaShares has announced the upcoming launch of a range of actively managed asset allocation ETFs. Branded BetaShares Diversified ETFs, the range will consist of four low-cost, multi-asset investment portfolios listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

ETFs prep for MSCI's latest China A shares weight increase

Passive fund managers running China and emerging markets equity ETFs linked to MSCI indices are gearing up for the latest scheduled increase in the portfolio weight of China A shares, to be implemented as of market close on 26 November. On completion, China A shares will command weights of 12.1% and 4.1% in the widely followed MSCI China and MSCI Emerging Markets indices, respectively. Danny Dolan, Managing Director of China Post Global, said the increase was “another significant step forward” for China’s onshore equity market.

Simplify debuts ETF to hedge interest rate falls

Cathay Securities, a division of Cathay Financial Holdings, has launched a new ETF in Taiwan providing investors with exposure to short-term US Treasury securities. The Cathay Bloomberg Barclays US Short Term Treasury ETF (00865B TT) has listed on Taiwan Stock Exchange and comes with an expense ratio of 0.14%.


Solactive launches ESG-weighted euro corporate bond index

Frankfurt-based index provider Solactive has launched a new index – the Solactive Euro IG Corporate SD-KPIndex – measuring the performance of the broad euro-denominated corporate bond market with constituents reweighted according to their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores. The choice between credit and duration risk is increasingly important especially in today’s low/negative yield environment. With 10-year Treasury yields converging towards the shorter end, investors are not being compensated sufficiently for taking on duration risk. In our view, investment-grade corporate bonds offer enough pick up in yield over government bonds to make credit risk arguably more appealing.

LSE reports 10 new ETF listings in October

Ten new ETFs or ETF share classes were listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 2019, according to the exchange’s latest ETP monthly update, taking the total number of ETF listings on the exchange to 1,245, available through 1,794 different share classes. ETF providers issuing products during the month included Amundi, DWS, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Invesco, State Street Global Advisors, and UBS.
