Syndey-based ETF issuer BetaShares has announced the upcoming launch of a range of actively managed asset allocation ETFs. Branded BetaShares Diversified ETFs, the range will consist of four low-cost, multi-asset investment portfolios listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

BlackRock has cross-listed the iShares JP Morgan ESG $ EM Bond UCITS ETF on SIX Swiss Exchange and added an additional share class on Xetra.

Lyxor has rolled out a euro-hedged share class for its Lyxor JPX-Nikkei 400 (DR) UCITS ETF on Xetra. The share class (JPNE GY) hedges currency risk between the Japanese yen and the euro on a daily basis.

Passive fund managers running China and emerging markets equity ETFs linked to MSCI indices are gearing up for the latest scheduled increase in the portfolio weight of China A shares, to be implemented as of market close on 26 November. On completion, China A shares will command weights of 12.1% and 4.1% in the widely followed MSCI China and MSCI Emerging Markets indices, respectively. Danny Dolan, Managing Director of China Post Global, said the increase was “another significant step forward” for China’s onshore equity market.

Cathay Securities, a division of Cathay Financial Holdings, has launched a new ETF in Taiwan providing investors with exposure to short-term US Treasury securities. The Cathay Bloomberg Barclays US Short Term Treasury ETF (00865B TT) has listed on Taiwan Stock Exchange and comes with an expense ratio of 0.14%.

Frankfurt-based index provider Solactive has launched a new index – the Solactive Euro IG Corporate SD-KPIndex – measuring the performance of the broad euro-denominated corporate bond market with constituents reweighted according to their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores. Timo Pfeiffer, Chief Markets Officer at Solactive, commented, “As capital markets continue to realize the importance of integrating ESG metrics into portfolio construction, we are proud to bring them a new bond index in collaboration with SD-M.”

The choice between credit and duration risk is increasingly important especially in today’s low/negative yield environment. With 10-year Treasury yields converging towards the shorter end, investors are not being compensated sufficiently for taking on duration risk. In our view, investment-grade corporate bonds offer enough pick up in yield over government bonds to make credit risk arguably more appealing.

Ten new ETFs or ETF share classes were listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 2019, according to the exchange’s latest ETP monthly update, taking the total number of ETF listings on the exchange to 1,245, available through 1,794 different share classes. ETF providers issuing products during the month included Amundi, DWS, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Invesco, State Street Global Advisors, and UBS.

Advisors Asset Management has introduced its first fixed income ETF with the launch of the AAM Low Duration Preferred and Income Securities ETF (PFLD US) on NYSE Arca. The fund provides passive exposure to a low-duration portfolio of preferred and hybrid securities listed in the US.
