Gold bugs and commodity bulls will be delighted at the return of two long-established commodity ETFs – the Market Access Rogers International Commodity Index UCITS ETF (RICI LN) and the Market Access NYSE Arca Gold BUGS Index UCITS ETF (GOLB LN) – to the London Stock Exchange.
Coinciding with the listing of the Market Access Rogers International Commodity Index UCITS ETF (RICI LN) on the London Stock Exchange, distinguished investor Jim Rogers spoke to an audience of more than 600 investors on a call co-promoted by ETF Strategy. Rogers expressed a bullish view on commodities, submitting a compelling case for long positions in agriculture, metals – including gold and silver – and energy.
China Post Global has cross-listed rolled out its Market Access STOXX China A Minimum Variance Index UCITS ETF in Switzerland. The fund, which provides exposure to China’s onshore stock markets while targeting lower total volatility than the market itself, has listed on SIX Swiss Exchange in Swiss francs under the ticker M9SV SW.
BMO Global Asset Management is to withdraw from the European ETF market. In a letter to shareholders in its ETFs, the asset manager announced its intention to close all of its London-listed ETFs and cease managing ETFs domiciled in Europe. It said the decision was based on a variety of factors, including the current level of assets under management and projected asset growth in the current market environment. The ETF closures raise some important questions with respect to fund due diligence and issuer viability.
Passive fund managers running China and emerging markets equity ETFs linked to MSCI indices are gearing up for the latest scheduled increase in the portfolio weight of China A shares, to be implemented as of market close on 26 November. On completion, China A shares will command weights of 12.1% and 4.1% in the widely followed MSCI China and MSCI Emerging Markets indices, respectively. Danny Dolan, Managing Director of China Post Global, said the increase was “another significant step forward” for China’s onshore equity market.
Invesco’s contingent convertible bond ETF, the Invesco AT1 Capital Bond UCITS ETF, has surpassed $500 million in assets under management. The milestone was reached on Tuesday, sixteen months after the fund’s inception on the London Stock Exchange in June last year. Jim Goldie, Head of EMEA ETF Capital Markets, Invesco, commented, “The growth of our AT1 ETF is a great example of how investors are using the wrapper to obtain exposure to segments of the fixed income market that they may not be able to access directly.”
China Post Global has launched the Market Access Markit iBoxx EUR Contingent Convertible Liquid Developed Market AT1 Index UCITS ETF on LSE, Euronext Amsterdam and SIX Swiss Exchange. “This is an exciting new ETF for which we’re seeing considerable demand from institutional investors” said Danny Dolan, MD of China Post Global (UK).
China Post Global has announced the launch of the Market Access STOXX China A Minimum Variance Index UCITS ETF, the first smart beta ETF on China to launch in Europe. The ETF, which is to be rolled out across multiple European exchanges, aims to provide investors with exposure to China’s onshore stock markets – known as China A-shares – with lower volatility than comparable passive funds.
