William H. Belden, managing director and head of ETF product development at Guggenheim Investments.

William H. Belden, managing director and head of ETF product development at Guggenheim Investments, commented: “Guggenheim’s participation in Pershing’s FundVest ETF platform underscores our ongoing commitment to providing investors access to innovative solutions through our distinctive ETF product line.”

Among the 39 ETFs now available on FundVest ETF are the Guggenheim S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) and 16 BulletShares defined-maturity ETFs.

“Equal weight strategies represent an alternative to traditional cap-weighted strategies, which have several potential drawbacks,” noted Belden. “Cap-weighting can lead to overconcentration in a small group of the index’s largest stocks. Additionally, cap-weighting can cause a bias towards companies that have experienced growth runs. This may hinder performance by overweighting overvalued stocks and, conversely, underweighting undervalued ones.”

BulletShares ETFs, contrary to the majority of fixed income ETFs which trade in and out of bonds to maintain a target duration exposure, hold underlying bonds until maturity, at which point the fund will liquidate.

With maturity dates spanning from 2018 to 2026, BulletShares track indices of approximately 30 to 320 corporate bonds with effective maturities in the same calendar year as each fund’s maturity. By combining funds of varying maturities, investors can build a portfolio that meets their future cash requirements.
