Nineteen new ETFs or ETF share classes were listed on the London Stock Exchange in September, bringing the total number of new listings (including ETPs) to 270 year-to-date. Issuers launching new ETFs on LSE included Invesco, BlackRock, Lyxor, and debutant Tabula Investment Management.

Lyxor has added an income accumulating share class of the Lyxor MSCI USA UCITS ETF on SIX Swiss Exchange. The fund tracks the MSCI USA Index, representing the performance of the large and mid-cap segments of the US equity market.

Lyxor has announced the launch of the Lyxor Robotics & AI UCITS ETF on LSE, Xetra and Borsa Italiana, offering exposure to firms that stand to benefit from the growth of the robotics, automation and artificial intelligence (AI) industries. It is based on the work of futurist Martin Ford. Chanchal Samadder, Head of Equity Product Development at Lyxor, said, “The robotics and AI industry is likely to change significantly as more players create and adopt the technology. The unique universe captured by our ETF could really help investors stay at the forefront of this dynamic market.”

BlackRock has launched a pair of ETFs – unconnected to each other – providing exposure to companies globally that are closely aligned with the themes of workplace inclusion & diversity and digital security. The funds have been listed on the London Stock Exchange and Xetra, and track indices provided by Thomson Reuters and Stoxx. Rob Powell, Lead Strategist, iShares Thematic Investing, commented: “As more and more investors are getting to know ETFs beyond the broad equity market exposures, our focus is on expanding this choice of tools to build future-smart portfolios.”

Lyxor has cross-listed its suite of ESG “Trend Leaders” ETFs onto Borsa Italiana. Aimed at ethically conscious and socially responsible investors based in Italy, the ETFs provide exposure to the equity performance of high ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) rated companies within the global, US, eurozone, and emerging markets universes.

Lyxor has cross-listed its Lyxor Scientific Beta Developed Long/Short UCITS ETF onto SIX Swiss Exchange under the ticker code MFLS SW, trading in US dollars.

Seven issuers were active on London Stock Exchange in July, listing nineteen new ETFs or share classes, bringing the total number of new listings, including exchange-traded products, to 243 year-to-date. There are now 1,097 ETFs and 487 other ETPs listed on the exchange, represented by more than 2,000 different trading lines across various currency, currency-hedged, distributing and accumulating share classes.

Exchange-traded funds providing exposure to Turkish equities are the worst performing ETFs on European exchanges this year on the back of a tumultuous domestic political landscape, dwindling investor confidence, and a 23.5% depreciation in the lira versus the dollar. The iShares MSCI Turkey UCITS ETF, Europe’s largest pure-play Turkish equity ETF, is down 35% YTD. 

Lyxor has introduced pound sterling-denominated share classes for two of its ‘core’ ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange. The new share classes offer low-cost GBP access to eurozone companies via the Euro Stoxx and MSCI EMU indices.

Lyxor has unveiled a new ETF providing exposure to US large-cap banking stocks and diversified financials. Launched on the LSE and Borsa Italiana, the Lyxor S&P 500 Banks UCITS ETF takes its constituents from the bellwether S&P 500 index of blue-chip US companies. Commenting on the launch, Adam Laird, Head of ETF Strategy, Northern Europe, at Lyxor ETF, said: “There’s a lot of opportunity in American banks. Rising rates give the potential for higher margins – and the sector could get a shot in the arm by the US administration’s planned deregulation campaign.”
