Fidelity International has extended its range of sustainable investment funds with the launch of three actively managed enhanced equity ETFs on London Stock Exchange and Xetra. The ETFs provide broad US, European and global equity market exposures while targeting companies that Fidelity believes offer superior sustainability and fundamental characteristics. Nick King, Head of ETFs, Fidelity International, said, “We believe these are cost-effective and differentiated products aligned to the needs of ESG conscious investors.”

JP Morgan Asset Management has announced changes to its US ETF product suite including the introduction of its first actively managed equity ETFs and the closure of ETFs providing hedge fund-style returns. Bryon Lake, Head of Americas ETF Distribution at JP Morgan Asset Management, said, “We regularly monitor and evaluate our product line-up as market and economic conditions evolve. This process allows us to optimize and scale our product offerings to better meet client objectives and market demand.”

DWS has introduced its first fixed income ETFs in the US to incorporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. The funds, which have been created by repurposing a trio of unloved existing listings, provide exposure to USD-denominated investment grade, high yield, and EM sovereign bonds. Luke Oliver, Head of Index Investing for the Americas at DWS, commented, “Our growing Xtrackers ETF suite continues to deliver ESG solutions across core benchmarks, which can help align client portfolios with business models at the intersection of shareholder and stakeholder value creation.”

UBS has launched a new fixed income ETF in Europe providing exposure to renminbi-denominated government and policy bank bonds issued in China. The UBS ETF – JP Morgan CNY China Government 1-10 Year Bond UCITS ETF has listed on Xetra in euros (JC11 GR) and is expected to list on Borsa Italiana (CIB IM) and SIX Swiss Exchange (CNYGB SW) later this month.

JP Morgan Asset Management has added to its ‘BetaBuilders’ suite of low-cost, passively managed ETFs with the launch of the JPMorgan BetaBuilders US Mid Cap Equity ETF (BBMC US) on NYSE Arca. The fund is linked to the Morningstar US Mid Cap Target Market Exposure Extended Index and provides investors with liquid, cost-effective access to mid-cap equities trading in the US. It comes with an expense ratio of 0.07%.

The JPMorgan Global High Yield Corporate Bond Multi-Factor UCITS ETF provides exposure to a globally diversified portfolio of high-yield corporate bonds from issuers with strong value, quality, and momentum characteristics.

Vanguard has trimmed the fees on nine US-listed ETFs that provide a range of international stock and bond exposures. While the fee cuts are of a magnitude of only one or two basis points, the ETFs in question are substantial, ranging in size from the $3.8 billion Vanguard FTSE Pacific ETF (VPL US) to the $63.2bn Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VWO US).

JP Morgan Asset Management has added to its ‘BetaBuilders’ suite of low-cost, passively managed ETFs with the launch of the JPMorgan BetaBuilders International Equity ETF (BBIN US). The fund, which has listed on Cboe BZX and comes with a fee of 0.07%, provides investors with liquid, cost-effective access to developed market equities globally, excluding the US and Canada. Joanna Gallegos, US Head of ETFs at JPMAM, said, “BBIN gives investors broad, diversified access to the developed international equity market, at a fraction of the price of purchasing across individual markets.”

BMO Global Asset Management is to withdraw from the European ETF market. In a letter to shareholders in its ETFs, the asset manager announced its intention to close all of its London-listed ETFs and cease managing ETFs domiciled in Europe. It said the decision was based on a variety of factors, including the current level of assets under management and projected asset growth in the current market environment. The ETF closures raise some important questions with respect to fund due diligence and issuer viability.
