Amundi has introduced a new range of ETFs that help tackle climate change by tracking low carbon indices designed in accordance with the Paris Agreement – a framework to limit global warming to below 2°C. The Amundi Climate Paris Aligned ETFs consists of three funds providing exposure to European, eurozone, and global developed equity markets. HSBC expands Islamic ESG ETF range

HSBC Global Asset Management has introduced a suite of sustainable equity ETFs on the London Stock Exchange. The funds are linked to newly created indices from FTSE Russell that provide exposure to companies with low carbon and strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) profiles. The suite initially comprises three ETFs focused on US, European, and Japanese equity markets.


UBS launches MSCI China A-shares ETF

UBS Asset Management has launched a new ETF offering access to China’s onshore equity market. The UBS ETF (IE) MSCI China A SF UCITS ETF has listed on SIX Swiss Exchange, LSE and Xetra, and provides exposure to the MSCI China A Index of Mainland China, renminbi-traded large- and mid-cap companies. HSBC Global Asset Management has announced plans to expand its ETF business in 2020. The firm, which currently manages $50 billion in passive strategies, including c. $8.5bn in ETFs, has outlined its intentions to launch ESG, fixed income and precious metals products in the coming year and to grow its team of in-house ETF professionals. The move aims to breathe new life into HSBC’s asset management business which has lagged rivals in recent years.

The Invesco MSCI Saudi Arabia UCITS ETF (MSAU LN) has powered through the $2bn AUM mark – a little over a year since its launch on the London Stock Exchange. The milestone has been reached on the back of strong inflows and healthy market performance, driven in part by the Kingdom’s accession to important emerging market indices. “The reality is that the MSCI and FTSE Russell inclusion process means that Saudi Arabia is a market that is hard to ignore”, says Chris Mellor, Head of EMEA ETF Equity & Commodity Product Management, at Invesco.


MSCI EM and ACWI ETFs prep for major rebalance

Exchange-traded funds linked to the MSCI EM Index and MSCI ACWI are prepping for a major rebalance ahead of the implementation of MSCI’s semi-annual index review at the end of May, which will see Saudi Arabia and Argentina added and China’s weight increased. The two benchmarks act as underlying reference indices for numerous ETFs, accounting for many tens of billions of dollars of assets under management. Among the largest to be affected are the $57bn iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (IEMG US) and the $10bn iShares MSCI ACWI ETF (ACWI US).

HSBC Global Asset Management has launched a new ETF in Europe which provides exposure to the equity market of Saudi Arabia. The HSBC MSCI Saudi Arabia 20/35 Capped UCITS ETF (HMSA LN), listed on the London Stock Exchange, aims to meet increased investor demand for Saudi Arabian securities following MSCI’s decision to include the Kingdom into its emerging markets index from May 2019.

HSBC Global Asset Management has cross-listed the HSBC MSCI China A Inclusion UCITS ETF on Deutsche Börse’s Xetra platform and the China Europe International Exchange (CEINEX) in Frankfurt. The fund provides investors with a tool to invest in the progressive partial inclusion of China A shares in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index over time.
