ProShares, a US-based provider of exchange-traded funds, has announced that the ProShares S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats ETF (NOBL) has surpassed $1bn in assets under management. The milestone was reached just over two years since the fund’s inception in October 2013.

ProShares S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats ETF reaches $1bn AUM milestone

The ProShares S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats ETF has surpassed $1bn in AUM. The fund invests in high quality companies within the S&P 500 Index that have increased dividend payments for a minimum of 25 years.

The fund tracks the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index, a index measuring the performance of companies within the S&P 500 that have increased their dividends every year for at least 25 consecutive years.

The index is equally weighted and currently contains 52 companies diversified across the consumer staples, industrials, materials, health care, financials and consumer discretionary sectors. It is reconstituted annually in January and rebalanced in April, July and October.

“Investors are attracted to NOBL because the Dividend Aristocrats are quality companies with long-term return potential,” said Michael L. Sapir, co-founder and CEO of ProShares. “Indeed, since its inception, NOBL’s index has outperformed the S&P 500 with lower volatility.”

Since its inception in May 2005 through to December 2015, the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index has returned 10.2% annually vs. 7.7% annually for the S&P 500, with volatility of 19.0% vs. 20.2%.

S&P 500 companies are not the only market segment where dividend growth strategies are appealing. ProShares offers an extensive suite of dividend ETFs focusing on the companies with the long track records of dividend growth in some of the most popular US and international indices. These include US large-, mid- and small-cap indices, as well as broad international, emerging markets, and Europe-focused exposures.
