Matthews Emerging Markets ex China Active ETF (MEMX US) – Portfolio Construction Methodology
The investment philosophy steering the actively managed Matthews Emerging Markets ex China Active ETF seeks long term capital appreciation by investing ≥80% of net assets in equities of companies located in emerging market countries excluding China, with location determined by operational, listing, trading and revenue ties; China includes mainland, Hong Kong and Macau. The fund may also invest in developed market issuers, but will not purchase developed market or China companies if, at the time of purchase, more than 20% of assets would be invested in a combination of developed market and China issuers. Research focuses on companies exhibiting sustainable growth attributes such as strong balance sheets, stable cash generation, quality management, sound governance and durable competitive positioning. The portfolio is non diversified, may concentrate more than 25% in a single country other than China, employs depositary receipts when appropriate, and adjusts weights as fundamentals and risk considerations change.
