Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Active ETF (MEM US) – Portfolio Construction Methodology

The investment process underpinning the actively managed Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Active ETF targets long term capital appreciation by investing ≥80% of net assets in common and preferred stocks of companies located in emerging market countries, including via American, European and Global depositary receipts. Matthews defines location using operational, listing, trading and revenue criteria. Security selection seeks companies capable of sustainable growth based on fundamentals such as balance sheet quality, stability of cash flows, management depth and adaptability, product positioning, governance and financial health; holdings typically skew medium or large cap but the fund may own any size. The portfolio is non diversified, may concentrate more than 25% of assets in a single country when conviction warrants, and can invest in developed market issuers. Sector exposures may become significant as a result of bottom up stock selection.
