Lyxor has cross-listed the Lyxor MSCI ACWI Gold UCITS ETF on SIX Swiss Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam. The fund, which was first listed on Euronext Paris in 2012, provides equity exposure to firms globally whose revenues are closely related to gold production.

The underlying MSCI ACWI Gold with EM DR 18% Group Entity Capped Index is comprised of companies generating revenues from gold or related products, including companies that mine or process gold and the South African finance houses which primarily invest in, but do not operate gold mines.
For emerging market companies, only depositary receipts are included. Constituent weights are capped in order to limit index concentration.
The index has approximately half (50.7%) of its total weight in Canadian-listed companies, with the next largest country exposures being the US (18.3%), Australia (11.9%), South Africa (8.6%), and the UK (8.0%).
It is significantly concentrated at the individual stock level with the five largest constituents accounting for two-thirds (66.9%) of fund. These include Newmont Mining (18.3%), Barrick Gold (14.2%), Franco-Nevada (12.0%), Newcrest Mining (11.9%) and Goldcorp (10.5%).
The fund trades under the ticker GLDU SW on SIX Swiss Exchange and GLDU NA on Euronext Amsterdam. Its total expense ratio (TER) is 0.50% and it has a little over $10 million in assets under management.
Investors looking for an alternative ETF may wish to consider the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners UCITS ETF (GDX LN) which tracks the performance of the NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index. This fund provides pure-play exposure to the largest publicly-traded companies worldwide which are primarily involved in the mining for gold and silver. GDX is VanEck’s largest ETF in Europe with assets under management of $117 million. Its TER is a little pricier at 0.53%.
