Twenty-two ETFs or new ETF share classes debuted on London Stock Exchange (LSE) in April, bringing the total number of new listings (including ETPs) year-to-date to 151.
There are now 1,043 ETFs and 487 other ETPs listed on the exchange as of the end of April, incorporating 1,545 and 579 trading lines respectively across multi-currency and distributing/accumulating share classes.
BlackRock listed the iShares US Fallen Angels High Yield Corp Bond UCITS ETF (USFL LN), which tracks the Bloomberg Barclays US High Yield Fallen Angel 3% Capped Bond Index. The index provides exposure to US dollar-denominated bonds that were rated investment grade upon issuance but have since ‘fallen’ to high yield status.
USFL comes with a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.50% and trades in US dollars on LSE.
The firm also added 15 new share classes to their ETF offerings during the month:

DWS introduced three new dividend-focused smart beta ETFs:
- Xtrackers Morningstar US Quality Dividend UCITS ETF (XMDU LN)
- Xtrackers Morningstar Global Quality Dividend UCITS ETF (XMGD LN)
- Xtrackers MSCI World High Dividend Yield UCITS ETF (XDWY LN)
The three funds each track indices that employ quality screens based on key financial figures to invest in companies offering sustainable dividend payouts.
XMDU, XMDG and XDWY have TERs of 0.35%, 0.45%, and 0.29% respectively, and all trade in US dollars on LSE.
First Trust launched Europe’s first blockchain ETF, the First Trust Indxx Innovative Transaction & Process UCITS ETF (BLOK LN). The fund tracks the Indxx Blockchain Index, providing exposure to companies which actively invest resources into products or services that enable and use blockchain technology.
BLOK has a TER of 0.65% and trades in pounds sterling on LSE.
VanEck launched the VanEck Vectors Global Mining UCITS ETF (GDIG LN), which tracks the EMIX Global Mining Constrained Weights Index—a rules-based, market cap-weighted index covering mining companies in both developed and emerging markets.
GDIG has a TER of 0.53% and trades in US dollars on LSE.
SSGA also added a distributing share class to the SPDR FTSE UK All Shares UCITS ETF.
Total on-exchange value traded for ETFs and other ETPs in April 2018 was £17.6bn, down by 21% compared to April 2017, while total on-exchange value traded for ETFs and other ETPs year-to-date was £98.2bn, down 8% compared to the same period in 2017.
