The underlying Nasdaq Next Generation 100 ESG Index offers mid-cap U.S. equity exposure to the Nasdaq Next Generation 100 universe, representing the next 100 largest non-financial Nasdaq-listed companies below the Nasdaq-100. From that parent set, it excludes issuers failing Sustainalytics-based norms screens, such as non-compliance with United Nations Global Compact principles or “Severe” ESG Risk Ratings, and applies business-involvement thresholds that fully exclude controversial weapons, small-arms and riot-control equipment, oil sands, Arctic extraction, and recreational cannabis, while limiting revenues from alcohol, gambling, adult entertainment, nuclear power and oil and gas to modest shares. Remaining constituents are weighted using a modified market-capitalization scheme that adjusts each stock’s parent-index weight according to its ESG Risk Rating, increasing weights for lower-risk issuers and decreasing weights for higher-risk issuers. The index reconstitutes and rebalances quarterly in March, June, September and December; deletions from the parent index between reviews are removed and not replaced.

Investment Proposition

Invesco ESG Nasdaq Next Gen 100 ETF (QQJG) offers mid-cap U.S. growth exposure to the next cohort of innovative, non-financial companies listed on Nasdaq, applying an ESG screening framework that removes specified activities and controversies while maintaining a liquid, rules-based universe poised for potential graduation into larger-cap leadership. The portfolio’s philosophy seeks capital growth via earlier-stage profitability and reinvestment, with factor tilts that can include quality, growth, and measured momentum; turnover reflects periodic reconstitutions and ESG adjustments. Return behavior is more sensitive to product adoption, market share gains, and funding conditions than mega-cap peers, with income a minor component. Use cases include a satellite growth sleeve complementing mega-cap allocations, factor completion to broaden innovation exposure across the size spectrum, or a values-aligned thematic mandate emphasizing emerging leaders. The fund can benefit from early-cycle recoveries, easing financial conditions, and technology diffusion, while facing headwinds during risk-off periods, tighter liquidity, or rotations into defensives and value. A key risk is mid-cap liquidity and concentration in specific growth themes, where ESG exclusions may increase tracking variability relative to conventional mid-cap growth universes.
