The underlying Lunt Capital Large Cap Factor Rotation Index provides large-cap US equity exposure by rotating among eight factor-based sub-indices built from the Nasdaq US 500 Large Cap Index. The parent index contains the 500 largest Nasdaq US Benchmark constituents, US-listed common stocks and REITs weighted by float-adjusted market cap. Each factor sub-index selects 50 names: momentum and value emphasize price appreciation and valuation ratios, low volatility targets lower realized volatility, and quality favors stronger balance sheets. The Nasdaq Factor Family US Momentum Index ranks eligible stocks by a composite 1–12-month price-momentum score, selects the top 50 and weights them by adjusted score with an 8% single-name cap and at most five weights above 4%. Monthly, Lunt scores all eight high- and low-factor sub-indices on risk-adjusted relative strength, selects four without holding both sides of a factor, assigns each a 25% sleeve, and inherits each sleeve’s underlying stock weights.

Investment Proposition

Pacer Lunt MidCap Multi-Factor Alternator ETF (PAMC) targets mid-cap equity exposure through a rules-based rotation among distinct factor baskets, seeking to harness changing leadership within this segment of the market. The methodology emphasizes factors displaying relative strength—commonly including value, momentum, quality, or volatility—while reducing exposure to weaker cohorts, allowing the portfolio’s style and risk profile to evolve as conditions shift. Mid-caps often balance growth optionality with operating maturity, and factor rotation within this universe can diversify single-style concentrations found in static approaches. Returns are driven by factor dispersion and the durability of trends; income is ancillary. Macroeconomic sensitivity is typical of equities but can vary with the prevailing factor mix (e.g., pro-cyclical tilts in expansions versus defensive tilts in late-cycle phases). Use cases include a satellite sleeve to complement a core U.S. equity position, factor completion across size tiers, or a tactical overlay for mid-cap exposure. The strategy can shine when regime shifts are pronounced and may lag in whipsaw environments. Key risk to monitor: liquidity and implementation in mid-caps during stressed markets, which can elevate trading costs when turnover rises.
