The underlying HCM Defender 500 Index offers U.S. large-cap exposure with a rules-based defensive overlay. The equity sleeve is the Solactive US Large Cap Index (“Large Cap Equity Sub-Index”); the index dynamically allocates among four stances: 100% equity, 70/30 equity/cash-equivalents, 40/60 equity/cash-equivalents, or 100% cash-equivalents. A proprietary trend measure, the HCM BuyLine, governs shifts: when the Solactive US Large Cap Index closes 3.5%, 6.5%, and 12% below the BuyLine, exposure steps down to 70/30, 40/60, and 0/100, respectively. Re-risking occurs only after five consecutive closes above the BuyLine; absent prior downside triggers, closes above the BuyLine add or maintain full equity exposure. The equity sleeve tracks the Large Cap Equity Sub-Index; the cash sleeve consists of cash or cash-equivalents. Allocation changes are event-driven upon signal triggers.

Investment Proposition

HCM Defender 500 Index ETF (LGH) presents a tactical, quantitative pathway to U.S. large-cap equities, alternating among full equity exposure, partial equity/cash mixes, and full cash-equivalents based on a proprietary trend indicator. The objective is broad-market participation when conditions are favorable and a systematic de-risking when sustained weakness emerges; exposure may be implemented via ETFs, derivatives, or representative sampling, and the fund can employ leverage, which magnifies both upside and downside. The strategy’s style skews toward market beta with a trend-following overlay, creating regime sensitivity to breadth, momentum persistence, and liquidity. Potential roles include a risk-managed core satellite for investors seeking smoother equity participation, a tactical overlay to dial equity beta up or down without security selection, or a transition exposure when de-risking is desired yet equity re-entry discipline is needed. Best suited to advisors and multi-asset allocators who actively manage equity risk budgets and accept tracking variance during fast reversals. It typically benefits in durable uptrends and can underperform when markets whipsaw. Key risk to monitor: model whipsaw and turnover that may elevate costs and reduce efficiency.
