The underlying Nasdaq-100 Daily Covered Call Index supplies a systematic covered-call overlay on the Nasdaq-100 Total Return. On each option expiration (“Roll”) date, the index is long the Nasdaq-100 TR and short PM-settled NDX call options that typically have 1 day to expiration. The strike is selected as the listed strike nearest a target level set from the index’s 14:00–14:10 ET TWAV of NDX, adjusted by one-month ATM implied volatility and capped so the chosen strike is no more than ~10% out-of-the-money; between rolls, positions are held to expiry. Premium received (net of specified transaction cost) accrues to a cash account that earns an overnight rate; assignment reduces equity exposure mechanically. The process repeats each available expiration (generally Monday expiries). No issuer, sector, or country caps apply beyond the Nasdaq-100’s composition; turnover is driven by the daily option-roll mechanics.

Investment Proposition

ProShares Nasdaq-100 High Income ETF (IQQQ) presents an options-based approach that seeks high current income while retaining broad exposure to the Nasdaq-100. The strategy combines a long equity portfolio with a systematic covered-call program, exchanging a portion of upside participation for premium income, path-dependent returns and lower net volatility than an unhedged stance. Distribution potential and return path reflect option carry, index level, and realized volatility; outcomes can trail in strong trending rallies yet hold up when gains are range-bound or choppy. Typical characteristics include growth-oriented sector exposure with an income overlay, reduced upside convexity, and sensitivity to changes in implied volatility. In portfolios, IQQQ can serve as an income sleeve anchored to a large-cap growth benchmark, a cash-flow source within a multi-asset income strategy, or a tactical overlay for investors willing to trade some upside for steady premium generation. Suitable users include income-oriented allocators seeking tech-heavy exposure with disciplined option writing and practitioners running distribution-target mandates. A fund-specific risk to monitor is option-writing drag during strong bull phases, which can widen tracking differences versus a long-only stance; aligning expectations and rebalancing around regime shifts helps manage implementation.
