Investment Proposition

iShares Core Long-Term USD Bond ETF (ILTB) delivers targeted exposure to the long end of the U.S. investment-grade bond market, spanning Treasuries, agencies, and high-quality corporates to emphasize duration as the primary return driver. The strategy pursues broad, rules-based coverage of long-maturity issues, accepting higher interest-rate sensitivity in exchange for greater potential price appreciation when yields decline, while generally avoiding lower-quality credit risk. Income is shaped by long-term Treasury and A-/BBB-tier corporate curves, with performance most responsive to changes in real rates, term premia, and macro conditions that influence inflation expectations. In late-cycle slowdowns or risk-off shocks, the fund can act as an equity diversifier and liability-matching tool; conversely, periods of rising growth and persistent inflation pressure can weigh on long-duration assets. Investors may employ ILTB as a duration extension sleeve, a strategic hedge against equity drawdowns, or as part of a liability-aware fixed income core. Suitable profiles include institutions managing ALM-oriented mandates and allocators implementing barbell or risk-parity constructs. A fund-specific risk to monitor is concentrated duration exposure, as sharp rate repricings or curve steepenings can amplify drawdowns.
