The underlying Dow Jones EPAC Select Dividend Index targets 100 higher-yielding dividend payers from the S&P EPAC BMI plus S&P Canada BMI, excluding REITs. New additions must have: dividends paid in each of the prior 3 years; TTM dividend-per-share ≥ 3-year average; a 5-year average dividend-coverage ratio ≥ max(⅔ of the corresponding S&P BMI country’s 5-year average or 118%); non-negative TTM EPS; float-adjusted market cap ≥ USD 1bn (≥ USD 750m for continuers); and 3-month ADTV ≥ USD 3m (continuers exempt). Selection ranks by indicated annual dividend (IAD) yield, retaining existing members ranked ≤200, then adds in rank order to 100. Weighting favors higher dividend yield and larger market value, with guardrails: only the first 20% of yield counts and size is damped. Any stock is capped at 10% (and ≤ ~5× its pure market-cap weight); any country or sector at 30%. A daily check trims concentration—if over 24% sits in names above 4.8% each, no stock may exceed 10% and the top position stays ≤22.5%. Constituents reset annually; caps are enforced daily.

Investment Proposition

iShares International Select Dividend ETF (IDV) provides targeted exposure to non-U.S. developed-market companies with established dividend profiles, positioning the portfolio toward mature, cash-generative businesses outside the United States. The strategy focuses on equities that exhibit attractive income characteristics and financial sustainability metrics, resulting in a deliberate tilt toward value and quality factors and a natural underweight to high-growth names. Across cycles, returns are driven by dividend distributions and the path of relative value versus growth leadership, while performance can be sensitive to currency moves, sector composition, and policy shifts that influence payout behavior. IDV can serve as an income sleeve for global equity allocations, a value-tilt satellite complementing a core international holding, or a diversification tool for U.S.-centric portfolios seeking non-U.S. cash flows. Suitable investors include income-oriented allocators implementing an equity income strategy and multi-asset managers seeking factor balance across regions. The fund tends to fare better when value styles and higher nominal yields are in favor, and can lag during momentum-led growth advances or broad dividend retrenchments. A key risk to monitor is potential sector and country concentration that may amplify drawdowns.
