The underlying Hartford US Quality Growth Index targets US-domiciled equities with growth and quality characteristics from the 1,000 largest US companies by estimated free-float market cap, each with six-month ADTV above 1M USD and excluding limited partnerships, BDCs, closed-end funds, UCITS and SICAVs. Eligible stocks form an equity universe; a “growth universe” is then defined as the top 50% of names by an equally weighted composite of gross profit-to-assets and five-year sales growth, float-cap weighted. An optimizer selects and weights constituents to maximize a quality factor (gross profitability/total assets) while avoiding negative exposure to value and momentum factors, subject to sector active weights within ±1% of the growth universe and size-bucket weights within ±5% across mega, large, mid, small and micro segments. Position sizes are capped by 1× ADTV and by size-based caps (1.5% for small/micro; 2% or growth weight for larger stocks), and the effective number of stocks must be at least 50. The index is reconstituted and reweighted on the second Wednesday of March and September.

Investment Proposition

Hartford US Quality Growth ETF (HQGO) targets large-cap U.S. equities with a systematic tilt toward companies showing durable growth alongside quality attributes and complementary momentum and value signals. The multifactor design seeks to emphasize earnings consistency, balance-sheet resilience, and capital discipline while managing concentration risk typical of traditional cap-weighted growth cohorts. Rebalance rules aim to capture persistent factor premia yet adapt when leadership rotates, supporting style resilience across market cycles. In late-cycle slowdowns, quality and earnings stability can cushion relative downside, while during early expansions a growth bias can participate in recoveries; momentum filters may assist in trend persistence regardless of backdrop. The fund can serve as a growth-oriented core equity sleeve, a factor-completion tool to upgrade quality within existing growth exposure, or a satellite to balance cyclical or deep-value allocations. Suitable profiles include allocators pursuing a rules-based quality-growth anchor and advisors building barbell portfolios that pair defensive quality with higher-beta segments. Key risk: multifactor reconstitutions can create higher turnover and potential implementation costs during sharp factor rotations.
