Each stock receives separate growth and value ranks using 5 growth factors (3-, 6-, 12-month price appreciation; price-to-sales; 1-year sales growth) and 3 value factors (P/B, P/CF, ROA); pure style names use their style score, while blend names take the better score. Within the sector, the lowest-ranked quartile is removed; the greater of the top 75% of the remaining eligible universe or 40 stocks is selected. Weighting is quintile-tiered: the best quintile receives 33.33% of index weight, then 26.67%, 20.00%, 13.33%, and 6.67%, with equal weighting within each tier; there are no explicit single-name caps. Investment Proposition

First Trust Health Care AlphaDEX Fund (FXH) provides targeted exposure to U.S. health care companies selected and weighted through a rules-based process that emphasizes a blend of growth and value characteristics rather than market capitalization. The strategy systematically ranks eligible health care stocks on multiple fundamental and momentum inputs, then concentrates in higher-scoring names and refreshes the portfolio on a periodic schedule to keep factor signals current. This approach can tilt toward innovative subsectors and mid-sized businesses, with higher turnover than traditional sector funds. Health care’s demand resilience and product cycles can moderate broad-market drawdowns, but returns remain sensitive to policy shifts, reimbursement trends and patent outcomes. FXH can serve as a satellite sector sleeve for growth and factor completion, or as a tactical tilt when investors seek potential defensiveness without abandoning equity upside. Suitable users include allocators building diversified sector baskets and factor-aware strategists aiming to complement core holdings. It tends to benefit in late-cycle or risk-averse phases and may lag during aggressive risk-on rallies; monitor methodology-driven concentration and turnover-related costs.
