The underlying FTSE Developed Eurozone Index provides free-float market-cap exposure to large- and mid-cap equities from developed eurozone countries. It is a subset of the FTSE Global Equity Index Series, targeting roughly the top 85% of investable market cap in each eligible market. Constituents must satisfy FTSE’s investability rules, including free float generally above 5% unless the investable market cap exceeds ten times the regional inclusion threshold, and must pass semi-annual liquidity screens based on median daily trading volume. Within each country, eligible securities are ranked by investable market cap and all qualifying large- and mid-cap names are included; there are no explicit issuer, sector or country caps beyond those implied by market-cap weighting and free-float adjustments. Constituents are weighted by free-float-adjusted market cap, with corporate actions, share changes and float updates processed quarterly. Full index reviews, which can add or delete names and reset size bands, occur semi-annually.

Investment Proposition

Franklin FTSE Eurozone ETF (FLEU) provides broad, market-cap-weighted access to developed Eurozone equities across multiple sectors and countries within the single-currency bloc. The strategy seeks to mirror the risk/return characteristics of the region’s large- and mid-cap universe through transparent, rules-based selection and low expected turnover typical of passive approaches. Exposures naturally tilt toward economies and sectors with larger free-float market values, which can emphasize financials, industrials, consumer cyclicals, and global exporters; income is primarily dividend-driven and variable across cycles. Performance tends to be sensitive to European growth, currency moves versus the U.S. dollar, energy dynamics, and policy settings from regional authorities. In portfolios, FLEU can serve as a cost-efficient core regional sleeve, a diversification complement to U.S. equity concentration, or a tactical overlay when European cyclicals gain traction. It suits global asset allocators using regional building blocks and outcome-oriented investors seeking currency opportunism within a developed-market framework. Favorable regimes include broadening global expansions and stable inflation; headwinds can arise with risk-off episodes or sharp energy shocks. A key risk to monitor is country and sector concentration that emerges from cap-weighting across a few dominant markets.
