The underlying MSCI EMU Index offers free-float-adjusted exposure to large- and mid-cap equities from developed markets in European Economic and Monetary Union that use EUR. Eligible equities and REITs are screened for full market cap, free-float market cap, foreign accessibility and liquidity. New securities require 20% three- and 12-month ATVR, 90% trading frequency in each of four quarters, 15% foreign room where ownership limits apply, and generally three months of trading. Each market’s large-cap segment targets 70% ± 5% of investable free-float market cap; the standard large-plus-mid segment targets 85% ± 5%. A security normally needs free-float market cap of at least half its market’s standard cutoff, rising to 1.8 times that minimum when free float is below 15%. Constituents are weighted by free-float-adjusted market cap without issuer, sector or country caps. Quarterly reviews take effect after the last business day of February, May, August and November.

Investment Proposition

iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF (EZU) delivers broad exposure to developed-market equities that share the euro as a common currency, offering a single-ticket way to reflect views on the region’s integrated economy, monetary policy, and cross-border supply chains. The strategy aims for long-term capital growth by tracking a market-cap-weighted basket across major sectors and countries, emphasizing large and mid-sized issuers. Performance tends to move with shifts in European growth, export demand, and interest-rate expectations; improving activity, a supportive policy stance, or constructive credit conditions can be helpful, while tightening financial conditions or external demand shocks can weigh on results. EZU can serve as a regional core satellite, a currency-aware tilt toward euro-denominated earnings, or a tactical vehicle for positioning around policy shifts. Suitable profiles include strategic asset allocators seeking diversified Eurozone exposure within developed ex-U.S. equities and macro-oriented investors expressing views on the euro area cycle. A key fund-specific risk is concentration in a single currency bloc, which can amplify drawdowns if policy or currency dynamics turn adverse.
