Eligibility requires membership in the Bloomberg US 1500 plus classification in the integrated oils, exploration & production, or refining & marketing sub-industries under the Bloomberg Industry Classification System. The index is free-float market-cap weighted with concentration controls: no constituent may exceed 22.5%, and the aggregate weight of all constituents >4.5% is limited to 45%, with excess redistributed proportionally to uncapped names. The universe spans large- and mid-cap issuers listed on U.S. exchanges, providing capacity and liquidity. Reconstitution occurs semi-annually (March/September) to refresh membership as classifications and size ranks change, while rebalances enforce the cap schedule quarterly (March/June/September/December) to manage concentration between reconstitutions.

Investment Proposition

Strive U.S. Energy ETF (DRLL) provides concentrated exposure to the U.S. energy ecosystem, spanning upstream producers, refiners, equipment and services, and midstream operators that are tied to exploration, production, processing, and transport. The strategy seeks to capture the sector’s cash-flow sensitivity to commodity cycles while maintaining breadth across industry groups and market-cap tiers to mitigate single-company risks. Return drivers center on realized oil and gas pricing, capital discipline, and investment cycles, with dividends and buybacks contributing variably to total return. Factor traits can lean toward value and cyclicality, with profitability and balance-sheet strength influencing constituent durability through downturns. Portfolio roles include a satellite cyclical tilt for growth-plus-income potential, a diversification sleeve for inflation and commodity-linked sensitivity, and a tactical overlay when energy fundamentals firm relative to the broader market. Likely users include allocators implementing sector rotation and family offices seeking real-asset proxies alongside commodities. It tends to benefit from tight supply-demand balances, rising input prices, and reflationary phases, while global slowdowns or falling commodity prices can weigh. A fund-specific risk to monitor is concentrated sector exposure, where macro or policy shocks can drive correlated drawdowns.
