The underlying Bloomberg Rate Hedged U.S. Aggregate Bond Index, Zero Duration targets the total return of the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Index while neutralizing its interest-rate exposure. The long leg replicates the investment-grade USD fixed-rate universe of Treasuries, government-related, corporates, agency MBS, ABS and CMBS that meet the parent index’s ≥USD 300m (deal-level for securitized) amount outstanding, investment-grade ratings and ≥1-year maturity screens. At each month-end, option-adjusted duration for the parent index is bucketed into <3, 3–7.5, 7.5–15 and ≥15 years; matching short positions are taken in the latest 2-, 5-, 10- and 30-year on-the-run U.S. Treasuries so the combined portfolio has duration near zero, with any residual funded by 1-month T-Bills. Reconstitution and hedge rebalancing occur monthly, preserving the credit and sector mix of the parent.

Investment Proposition

WisdomTree Interest Rate Hedged U.S. Aggregate Bond Fund (AGZD) delivers broad, investment-grade bond exposure while applying an interest-rate-hedging overlay intended to drive portfolio duration toward neutral, emphasizing credit, securitized and term premia over directional rate moves. The approach seeks core-bond diversification—across Treasuries, agency MBS, investment-grade corporates and other high-quality segments—while mitigating price sensitivity to parallel shifts in yields, aiming to stabilize total return when rate volatility dominates. Philosophy centers on preserving familiar core-bond characteristics, income sources and liquidity profile, with the hedge designed to let security selection and spread dynamics lead outcomes. The fund may exhibit lower correlation to unhedged core bonds during sharp yield changes, while still reflecting cyclical credit trends, convexity effects in mortgages and term structure shifts. Portfolio roles include a constrained-duration core complement, a ballast within a risk-managed multi-asset strategy, or a transition vehicle when de-risking rate exposure without fully exiting high-quality bonds. Suitable investors include institutions operating under duration caps and advisors aligning income needs with rate-risk budgets. A key risk is basis and hedge mismatch, where imperfect offsets or convexity effects can create residual rate or curve exposures.
