Listed on NYSE Arca, the Calamos Antetokounmpo Global Sustainable Equities ETF (SROI US) has been brought to market in partnership with Giannis Antetokounmpo, a Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player in the NBA.
The fund invests in both developed and emerging market stocks of companies that Calamos has determined to have above-average growth potential and also meet the firm’s proprietary ESG criteria.
Calamos’s ESG model harnesses both quantitative and qualitative factors to consider a company’s position on various factors such as ecological limits, environmental stewardship, environmental strategies, human rights and equality, societal impact, and corporate governance practices.
The process utilizes a three-pronged approach combining exclusionary screens, materiality assessments, and ESG scoring.
The ETF comes with an expense ratio of 0.95% with a portion of the fund’s profits being donated to charities working in areas such as economic empowerment, financial education, and the development of young people in underserved communities.
Matt Kaufman, Head of ETFs at Calamos, said: “We’re excited to be in the ETF marketplace with the listing of the Calamos Antetokounmpo Global Sustainable Equities ETF. We’re confident the partnership forged between Calamos and Giannis Antetokounmpo will allow for the greatest opportunity for societal return on investment on a global scale and will become a cornerstone for future growth in the ETF space at the firm.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo added: “The principles of family, community, and economic empowerment are tremendously important to the Antetokounmpo family. I’m excited to join with Calamos to bring an ETF to market that invests for growth, and to form a partnership that gives back to the community in a meaningful way.”
